cutting out
Hi all,im back to an old problem that ive got,i am stalling and the engine just stops.I have managed before to just roll a little way to the kerb, but today i tried to do it,but the sterring wheel didnt seem to want to turn. But then after ive keeped the key in and turn to let it turn over till it comes back to life, its seems fine to go.This all seems to of started since i had a new rad put in,any help???????? ive checked the obvious, would it seem right to go back to the garage?? as ive read that someone else had the same and the garage didnt seem to get on top of it.

Re: cutting out
DBO's brother had a similar problem...Unfortunately a new fuel pump was needed as it was intermittently under fuelling causing a stall/stumble...Pm daveblueozzie for more info.

Re: cutting out
Mine only cut out once and big time..... turned out the diesel pump (for whatever reason) was breaking up inside..... blocked the injectors with metal swarf..... I needed a "new" diesel pump..... Been sorted and no problems since....

Re: cutting out
Ball park HERE Susan.
Make sure that it is the culprit before splashing out though, chances are its something cheaper to fix.

Re: cutting out
would also have the cut out solenoid checked, admittedly they usually stick in the open position, but they can have an intermittent closing problem, not necessarily saying its the culprit but just something else to look at before jumping in and buying a new pump.
The steering will go heavy cos without the engine running you lose the drive for your power steering pump.
Are there any other symptoms? does it do it at any particular times? on hills, temperatures? etc possible fuel filter issue? try driving with the fuel cap removed (keep suggesting this, it'll solve 1 one day lol), is there any power loss or just stalls? I've noticed a few EGR to inlet manifold pipe breaks that are letting air in recently?

Re: cutting out
Thanks for replies, not very good round an engine but i take onboard what you say.As i said this didnt happen till i got a new rad,it starts fine, then if i have to pull up at lights or come to a stop you can feel her start to go,then she shudders and no power, but when i start her up after trying for a few mins she dosent do it again.
Re: cutting out
?? should be nothing rad related to tickover, only electricals are for fans and blower? after it stalls, you say it doesnt it fire up staright away but after time it does, is it a clean start up or take a lot of turning over? and does it fire up smooth or shake n judder a bit while being turned over? sounds more fuel related and maybe just a coincidence?

Re: cutting out
Is there any other running issues which could point in the direction of a possible cure Susan?

Re: cutting out
If it's within 5 or 10 minutes of starting it could be the fast idle solenoid stuffed, vacuum loss due to a broken plastic connection or the diaphragm jobby that it controls, this may help - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... id#p410294

Re: cutting out
May not need to get anything, it needs checking to see where the fault lies by someone who knows what they're doing, could just be an iffy connection or a perished vacuum hose, could need a new solenoid or something else entirely. Any bongo friendly garages in your area?
Here you go this may help find someone - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =1&t=40397
