What's Missing

Post by timjonz » Sat May 08, 2010 10:16 pm

I got my Bongo 2 weeks ago, just been cleaning up the inside, very smeely when it arrived.
Anyway under the middle row of seats the ar 4 threaded studs & a small cut in the carpet with some wires which were cut off.
Just wondered what might have been there before.

Sony CD changer fitted under the middle seat. Standard equipment on some models.

Mstly totally defunct. Usually the only use of it is that you get a hefty power cable wired in Comes under the roundtuit list to fit a 12v socket using this.

That was quick.
CD changer may be right judging by the number of wires there.
Now I can take them out save me kneeling on them again.
I assume that the wires are no longer conected to anything now otherwise there would be a short circiut.

I wouldn't assume anything, check with a voltmeter & see if there's anything there just in case.

Mine had a TV/DVD/Satnav system fitted. The brains of the satnav lived in a box under the middle seat, held in with 4 studs coming throiugh the carpet. The upper carpet cover is specially shaped to accommodate this.

Possibly an OEM option.

What radio / stereo unit did you have on import?

Like this?

You may have a GPS aerial left over too - front left on top of the dashboard.

To remove the studs, lift up the carpet and you will find 2 plates - each has 2 of the studs attached. They just pull out.

I had the flip up satnav radio when imported gps aerial on dash, I was advised by JAL that it didn't work so had it replaced by with a CD player.

Studs now removed.

Thanks everyone that replied.
