Cigar lighter splitter - fuse size?

Post by dblake » Sun May 09, 2010 8:45 pm

Hi there, I've been using a basic splitter I picked up to allow me to plug two 12v sockets into the cigar lighter. Been working fine until today when i had a satnav and a PSP charger pluged in and the fuse in it blew.
Checked the fuse and saw it was a 6A glass one. Is that right or has it been fused on the side of caution? A SatNav and PSP charger didnt seem like to much to ask!

Cheers in advance!

6amp is quite a strong fuse and a couple of small devices should not have blown it....perhaps one of the devices is faulty or perhaps the plug wires are shorting out inside....I defo wouldn't put a bigger fuse in as the wires to the ciggy socket are not that big.
Have a look inside the 3 plugs involved and check the wires are all well connected.

Thanks HC - i'll stick to the 6A then and investigate the PSP charger as that was the newer item added to the equation :)
