rear arches

Post by jutwit » Wed May 12, 2010 9:23 am

i was under my freeda yesterday and noticed some rubbery bits hanging down from the sills, i gave it a pull and some bathplug has only filled these 2 big rust holes with silicone and painted over it [-X , the rear arch has also been filled to within an inch of its life :x . my uncle can sort this out but when i asked him if he would do the arches with replacement panels he asked what type are they? he said some arches slot together and only need a few tacks , some are riveted on the inside and some you have to cut out and there was some other stuff he was on about but i got a bit lost by then :? i guess he was asking if its a big job or a reasonably easy one, any ideas?

Hi,

Hard to comment without pics but I'd be looking to see if I could get new sills and wheelarches on it. Especially as you have someone that can do the work for you.

Ian sells the arches in the bongo shop, not sure about the sills.

Is there rust anywhere else?

The arches are a cut out job, They're transit arches, Ian doesn't sell them, he started to but I think there were problems geting reliable supplies, there are details somewhere, or do a search on "wheel and arches" - loads of discussions.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

the sills can be patched so thats not a problem and i will be seeing my uncle tomorrow and see what he has to say regarding the arch, if it can be patched or if it needs replacing. who knows might pimp it up with some flared arches and a two tone paint job, you know what it like, you start fiddling and your off, (well thats what my wife says  )

Anyone got any suggestions because the Bongo shop says they're out of stock?
Ian has the part numbers for the ones from "Hadrian Body Panels" which are the same
thing he used to stock but priced at about 64 pounds a pair from their stockists. They
are Ford Transit long wheel base ones, I think 2006, and are fine for the Bongo. You
do need the part numbers though. If you find the part numbers soon let me know them
as I need a pair and have lost the part numbers.

The ones advertised in the "For Sale" section were Identical.

Transit long wheelbase - 2006

Hadrian part numbers per side:

30 - 53 - 508
30 - 53 - 509
Worth confirming details are correct before splashing out though of course but at least its a start , , , ,

Be careful with flared arches. The sliding door may not clear them.

dickymint wrote:Looks a great job, mine is getting ready for this work, but where do you get the wheel arches from for £75?
THE HADRIAN GROUP Phone 01373 865684
They are panels from Fort Transit 2000-2006 (LWB) Part Nos 3053508/3053509
I had to order mine through a dealer as they do not deliver private. They will tell you your nearest dealer.
They need to be cut to fit
Best of luck.
