Thanks for all your advice, peeps! I've had a little feel and the solenoid is not loose or wobbly and the wire seems OK. I'm reluctant to take it out altogether for a look at the rubber seal as it looks like a fiddly old job with other bits to remove which are in the way. With interruptions it will probably take me far longer than it should and I'll probably need to be somewhere while there's bits of Bongo lying around on the pavement. So I shall get a professional to attend to the job in the not too distant future when it's service time.

Anyway, I tried to tighten it and it is already nice and tight, and when I went out afterwards the engine stopped at the right time. I went out again later and it was overrunning again, so I suspect the solenoid or its rubber seal does indeed need replacing and hope I can get away with it for another few weeks. I have ordered a £9.99 solenoid anyway, so it's here in the event of an emergency. .

My two chaps rent a kilt when the need arises and believe it or not, it costs the same for a little one as it does for a big one. I suppose kilts at the Bash could be an option. Might start up a "who's got a tartan" thread (better than asking who wears a kilt - could get dodgy  )

So, here I am with a potential fuel stop solenoid issue discussing kilts. What am I like [-X

This is one of the more interesting diversions that a post has made

One hopes that it will be far too hot in June for you chaps to cope with kilts. I have seen t shirts worn with kilts but never crocs nor sandals. Neither do I want to  And don't bring your kilt to Cornwall when you bring the rain, Mike - I dread to think how heavy a wet kilt must be :-"

The Rain always seems to greet me when down your way..... and at the same time it's dry up here in the Angles..... hedging my bets this year with Bodmin in August.....

Mrs B is of the Munro Clan and will doubtless be very pleased with a Celtic Gathering. :D
