New Shape Front Fog Light Installation HELP

Post by dandemann8 » Tue May 11, 2010 8:45 pm

Finally got my hand's on a complete set including mounting bracket's of OE front fog lights :D :D, now here's where I could do with abit of help please [-o< as anybody got any photo's of the mounting bracket's in position :?: I'm hoping to fit them this weekend so any help would be very much appreciated. :) Before fitting though the blanks on the bumper need to be cut out correctly [-o< [-o< to allow fitment. I'm thinking of wiring them up to work off a switch instead of the main beam.

Thanks in advance for your help. :)

Foglamps should be wired to come on when you use your dipped headlights - Spotlamps should be wired to come on with the mainbeam. Wire the foglamps through a relay and a switch - There was a thread many moons ago about wiring foglamps up with a diagram showing how to wire the relay. Some one will hopefully be able to do a link to the thread for you - cos I can`t. #-o I did wire my own up following the diagram - Only took about an hour. :)
If I had all the money I ever spent on my Freda ............ I`d spend it on my Freda.

Hi KK, the wiring's not the problem [-o< I'm more concerned about the actual fitment and cutting me bumper to piece's [-o< [-o<

Hi Duncan, just been out to have a look at mine but my torch went flat but what I did make out was there are raised mouldings and the brackets are bolted to them. dont know if mine is the same as yours as ive got the body fairing, Colin

Can't help with fitting them in I'm afraid but I think you'll find that running from a switch is an MOT requirement. Hooked to main beam is a [-X

They're the experts to speak to as to stuffing them in Duncan, if no-one else on here can assist quickly enough.

front and rear fog lights are only supposed IN FOG, strictly speaking they should not be used at other times, therefore they must be wired in with a independent switch

if they come on with other lights = MOT failure, unless you,re lucky and they decide not to notice

Right next step is to cut away the bumper but not quite sure so here's a couple of picture's with one a possible cut line. I only get one shot at this so need to get it right first time. [-o< [-o<

The first picture show's the blank and the second the possible cut line.

Any advice would be very helpfull :D

No expert myself but i would cut to the inside and rasp away afterwards. Can keep taking away but hard to add on.

Couldn't agree more, not sure if the hole is needed :?: Looking at the picture Colin's posted it look's like all the blank is removed :?:
