Hello guys,
I was just wondering wether you can sustitute the old style aircon controll unit in a 1995 bongo and replace it for the newer digital type?..has anyone done this before?
Or is it just tottaly impossible and i'm just pimp dreaming?!?...LOL
Thanks,
Kev

Nope, gets asked every few weeks or so, too many servo's extra wiring etc, if you want climate control, buy a bongo with it on
Not much advantage TBH other than the digi mebe looks a bit better?
Here's the most recent ask on the same point - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... ol#p405649

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

I agree. The Mk1 human brain is a good climate control system, esp. when able to instruct the Mk.1 human finger to press the aircon button on the dash. A lot less ageing electrickery to go wrong plus you have human control over when the MPG reducing aircon compressor is operating.missfixit70 wrote:Nope, gets asked every few weeks or so, too many servo's extra wiring etc, if you want climate control, buy a bongo with it onNot much advantage TBH other than the digi mebe looks a bit better?

As you do with the digital CC if you so desire

If the ageing electrickery behaves, is my fear, but maybe I'm being too luddite - I'm not familiar with how it operates as I don't have one but I imagined you dialled in a temp and hoped it responded intelligentlymissfixit70 wrote:mikeonb4c wrote: plus you have human control over when the MPG reducing aircon compressor is operating.

You can do it that way or control the temp manually & have the ac switched on or off as you desire, pretty much the same as the manual control, many options, doesn't have to be auto

The Auto function seems to do very little on the Climate Control unless on 18 or 32 degrees but is very flexible in Manual Mode.
The digi one is probably simpler too TBH.
Less moving parts & all that.

All you do is get your Mk 1 brain to instruct your numero uno digit to press the air con switch on or off.missfixit70 wrote:You can do it that way or control the temp manually & have the ac switched on or off as you desire, pretty much the same as the manual control, many options, doesn't have to be auto
If using it "ON" then yes you dial a temp and it sticks to it so you don't to the seats.
