Turbo late in "kicking in"
What sort of Revs would I expect the turbo to kick in on my 2.5 Bongo TD 2WD
Seems mine comes in at over 3500 rpm !

Re: Turbo late in "kicking in"
is yours an auto? if yes , how do you know its coming in late? it may be coming in but it may be weak/worn.
is this the only symptom regarding performance, does it change gear when it should.
quick check around the air/vacuum pipes to the turbo may help, check the air inlet system from where it comes in next to the starter battery all the way through the air filter/housing,round the back of the engine, forward to the turbo then forward to the aftercooler and back to the inlet manifold, all these pipe conections should be airtight

Like Ady, i hear mine spooling up around the 1800RPM mark depending on engine load at the time...

Re: Turbo late in "kicking in"
Hi
I'm new to the bongo but my car and all my previous cars have beeen TD's and have kicked in at about 1800/2000 rpm. The bongo is sluggish, it accelerates slowly to 3200 rpm in 2nd gear then takes of, the gearbox then changes up through third to fourth quite quickly then it dies, again if you let it accelerate slowly in top it will then takes off once engine has hit 3200
I have just had it serviced and the transmisson fluid changed and gearbox filter cleaned, garage say that it was a bit dark in colour but nothing that they would say should concern me. I also got them too check the intercooler to turbo pipes but will check other myself at weekend

Check the fuel filters been changed & not leaking & check the banjo strainer on top of the fuel pump.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Dandy was of course checking that his coolant top hose wasn't about to suffer a ruptured aneurism. Crikey, it looks like something out of a pathology textbookdandywarhol wrote:Check this hose hasn't disconnected

Coolant hose had just swallowed a small bongo and was digesting it over a period of weeks
