Yes - I think proceed with caution. My local garage man who is very good, looked under the car with me yesterday and despite the occasional smell there is no evidence of oil leaks anywhere. So I am not planning on doing anything other than keeping an eye...I think I agree with supreme being - there is a lot of heat generated under there and it doesn't always get a chance to dissipate. Moral? I dunno - don't drive the arse off it!!

Glad I found this post as I have been having occassional burning smell. Garage checked oil and tha was alright so I'll stop panicking. Will get them to look at the easy things tho xx
