Headlights permanently on

Post by lrsfawcett » Tue Jun 08, 2010 11:40 pm

Hi

My bongo headlights have started to come on as soon as I put my key in the ignition and turn it to the first position. It's just the main front headlights and I had thought this might have something to do with a switch I'd read about in the FAQ section. This switch was described to be on the right side but I found a round rocker in a similar place on the left and figured it must be it. Sadly neither setting changed the fact that I now have headlights whenever I put the keys in!!!! Help!

Thanks in advance, Zak

the headlight switch is the righthand side stalk. usually the indicator stalk on uk cars.

The rocker switch is most likely the fog light switch.

Usually if you leave the lights on a beeper sounds to remind you to turn them off after you've took the keys out.
you will also get a beep if you leave the keys in with the ignition off as well.

Just a thought! Try doing a test by disconnecting the key beep..? A white two wire connector block at the bottom of the cowl... Could be some sort of short?? :-k
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Could also be a relay stuck on the passenger side inner wing they are in a little rubber cover for each one.

Thanks for those ideas hope to try them out over the wknd. When I left for work this am the lights came on (one click round on the ignition) but after I started the engine and applied revs they went off and stayed off!! Loose wire I guess now just to work out which one and where!!!!
