Bongo Diagnostic Testing

Post by Purple Patch » Wed Jun 09, 2010 3:41 pm

I have been told that my Bongo needs to be checked in for an ACR test. The local Mazda dealers diagnostic kit does not talk to my engine apparently so need to find a garage near High Wycombe who might have the right kit. Trying to solve a problem where when driving along the engine suddenly revs for a couple of seconds and the coil light comes on, and then all back to normal. Mazda garage says its defo not the gear box.

What is the year of your Bongo and what engine has it got? Early diesels don't have an ECU to read.

They've all got an ECU haven't they? just don't necessarily do a lot. Have you looked in the diagnostic factsheets in the members area PP?

I thought the ECU on the early ones was for the auto gearbox  :?

Mines a 95 & the fan control amongst other things go through the ECU.

If its a Bongo specialist you need, are 321 Away acceptably close:

Paul is often on here and knows his stuff (they've been established in the Bongo community for a long time). No idea what their charges are like but phone and ask maybe. 8)

But does it have any relevance to the running of the engine :? The ECU in my Fiat seems to tell the garage virtually everything - except when I last washed it
Incidentally, when I googled ACR test, it referred to urine :? I suppose it could be right if the engine is running p*ss poor
