Hi,
I have just completed my first service on our bongo 2.5td. I have completed a full oil change and filter, put in K&N air filter and changed the fuel filter. I then started the engine and just let it run. After about 5 mins it started kicking out black smoke and started choking slightly. I have used 10w40 mineral oil as our bongo has done quite a few miles now, as suggested by the factsheets.
Is this just the engine clearing all the crap out after all the filters and clean oil have been changed?

I've never noticed mine chucking out black smoke after an oil service. If the smoke clears soon, it stops spluttering and runs normally, I wouldn't worry.

did you oil the k and n first,or did it come pre oiled, black smoke would suggest to much fuel to air mix.let the new filter settle in and dry a little,it should get better.

Thanks for your responses, i took the bongo out for a drive and an itailian tune and all was fine. Felt the van was a lot more responsive with a little press on the throttle, well happy now! Sounds like its running much happier and generally a good thing to have done!! K&N air filters are definitely reccomended in my book! Just got to fit those air assistors to the springs now to stop the heavy thud noises when loaded!
