fault code 26

Post by K&J » Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:24 pm

we are new bongo owners with a flashing hold light issue (not the first or last...)

bongo is currenly with local mechanic for a service and to see if he can diagnose the problems (have supplied him with relevant factsheets and forum extracts)
he has found the fault code 26 displayed and has asked us to investigate
we can't see this code discussed in the the forums or factsheets
does anyone have any idea what it could be or how we can find out what it means?

bongo is 1997 automatic
other symptons are not going into 4th gear and rev counter falling to zero
we have a big trip planned shortly and need to get our lovely bongo in good order in plenty of time

thanks for any help
(we live/work in worcestershire and birmingham areas)

I seem to remember speedo chips causing your symptoms :? Is your speedo chipped? - you can easily tell if the odometer reads in miles or Kms. Miles means you have a chip fitted.

faulty rev counter,if revs drop off its usually the pick up and as the vehicle selects gear according to revs/speed may be a reason for the changing fault

Thanks for both responses. I have passed your ideas onto the mechanic. Fingers crossed...
