In the translated service manual, it states -1 to 7mm toe in, is this then an error Julian? Where did your 1 to 7mm figure come from? Not trying to start an argument, just trying to get the true & proper facts.
Also bear in mind as Dandy stated here - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... es#p410018 that the Japs use a different measurement standard just to confuse the issue even more.
Mine have been runnning set to parallel for 3 years & have been fine.

In a dim and very distant life I was a car mechanic, when radial tyres came in (yes that long ago) we always used parallel for everything. I have always done this with no problems on any car since then. not tracked the Bongo yet but I will try parallel first.

Hi 321away. Thanks for the reply. My bongo is four wheel drive so being a complete non mechanic do the measurements you posted do all wheels on my bongo? Is it only the front wheels on a bongo that need to be tracked? Also are the measurements the official Mazda bongo approved most accurate, i want my bongo to drive as smooth as possible because at the moment it is seriously vibrating. Forgive me for sounding so stupid but i want to collate as much info as possible in order to look after my Mazda bongo.

those measurements were posted previously on the forum here, I just kept them handy as its a question often asked, and yes in the manual it does say -1 to 7, i never actually checked the book as i believed the figures posted! that'll teach me!

I would say your Bongo wheels want balancing, not tracking.

Without doing the maths accurately, I seem to remember that
zero to 7 millimetre equates to zero to 36 minutes toe IN per
wheel, therefore Total Toe In is 1.2 degrees. Using optical tracking
equipment this is about zero to 1.2 degrees total.

On a 4WD Bongo with decent tyres, most Bongos happily drive with
zero toe. Some tyres will wander on a heavy camber and a small positive
toe should correct that.

If it were me, I would set the toe in to about 0.5 degrees as a first hit
which is a compromise between tyre wear and stability, you could also
try zero toe but if the steering wanders when driving in a straight line
then your tyres need some toe in.

There is no accurate recommended toe for the Bongo exept within the
maximum limits, it all depends on your tyres and your driving style, and
what you will accept as being comfortable.

I've just taken delivery of a N reg Bongo (and delighted with it so far) but it does seem to wander slightly to the left. Tyre pressures are okay so I'm going to get the tracking checked. 321Away - are the figures you gave applicable to my N reg Bongo ? Also, I've been asked to get the toe in and toe out settings but you gave only the toe in setting. Thanks for any help - delighted to have this wealth of info on the forum :)

Gave the garage your figures, 321away, and things now much improved. Thanks.
