wiring for auto free top roof motor

Hi all
our mechanic is attempting to work out why our roof won't go down. He's stripped the wiring back as much as he can, but the control panel seems to be at the very back, driver's side. Which is exactly where we have a unit glued in place as part of our conversion (Hillside). He's going to clean out the microswitches first, but is there anything else he needs to do before he breaks apart our lovely conversion?

Wiring diagrams here if they help, worth looking at both years as there is a little extra info between the two manuals;

Some of the well known Bongo garages seem to know the stock faults,so may be worth contacting them as well for help.
