drive shaft broke

Post by Hippotastic » Sun Jun 20, 2010 11:14 am

My 4 wheel Freeda is now a 2 wheel rear drive freeda. The front transfer drive shaft broke and it was taken off, allowing me to continue with 2 wheels. should I put another back on, or leave it? Is there anything to adjust or see too now that the shaft is not there?

You can just leave it if you wish (you might regret it if we have snow again though), it's OK this way round, but you can't remove the rear propshaft (& leave the front one on) or you transfer box will fail.

Personally I would replace it sometime as you are carting all the 4x4 stuff round (transfer box, front diff, driveshafts etc.) anyway, so you might as well use them.

I would be interested to see what the difference is to your fuel consumption though (if any).
