And it's okay as well when the whole system is drained, such as both after I bought this van with no head, as well as when I removed the rear heater from the van. Feel free to disagree with me, but please be nice about it. I'm a sensitive little cherub who went to some lengths after all to try to help.

with reference to the discusions you have had.sometimes something that works on one bongo doesnt work on another,there are lots of varying factors particularly the cooling system quality.dont take it to much to heart,as ive found out.not everyone agrees with you,
keep posting.that way we will all get there in the end,its just a question of how and when.

I know you said earlier that you are (quote) 'a sensitive little cherub' but you need to calm down a bit. No one is looking to rubish your ideas - No one at all. In fact, personally I thought your method of bleeding made absolute sense. My problem with bleeding, and I suspect quite a few others are in the same boat, is that I would not have the confidence to do it myself, and we have to rely on others. From what I gather, there is more than one way to do it. The current Forum standard procedure is not the same as yours, Mike Goughs, or even the Mazda manual, but it works. They ALL seem to work.
The bottom line of what I am trying to say is don't be put off from sharing your ideas cos I'm sure we can all benefit from your experiences. That's why I come on this forum - to learn.

Was just going to get sitrep from mrdeano. Wonder how he is getting on. If NZ is about 12 hours in front of us, deano is either having a 'mare or he has fixed it and gone for a moonlight drive to celebrate. Hope it's the latter.

But my solution was to line the heaters up in series instead of in parallel. So the water out of the driver side block goes down to what was a T, but now isn't a T, but instead ALL the coolant turns right to the rear heater, does its thing there then heads back past what was the same T, to pick up again where the T had been and on to the front heater.

No figure-8, just one big loop with two heaters in it, followed by a bleed hose, and then the return to the thermostat as now, that other T on the passenger side being blanked off to the rear as per the Fury version. Both heaters working admirably, faultlessly, and never an airlock (says he tempting the very Devil himself).

Did someone beat me to this?

Got you thinking there didn't I? Could have spun you a load of crap and said 'yea - it's been done before - just added your name to it' ...................but in truth........
I created the diagram sometime ago and updated it as I learned more about the system. I just had 10 minutes work to do to create your system from the original. It came from this one.........

But you didn't answer the question. Is it correct?

Well all good the results are good, after finally getting me mate to help me bleed Bertie last Sunday, I did a quick trip to Reefton our nearest town which is 70 km's return and sorted out the water level which needed a quick top up. I've done a few trips between home and Westport, that's a 100 km return through the Lower Buller Gorge and all good so far, so last Thursday I ventured over to Christchurch, two mountain passes, one 720 metres above sea level and the other 940 metres ASL plus return, and Bertie Bongo didn't use a drop of water let alone any oil so I am pretty damn happy with the end result of the bleeding.
Both heaters work absolutely fine, keep me lovely and warm as it was about 2 degrees over the mountain passes.
I arrived home from Christchurch on the Friday so am quite pleased with the Bongo now.
Thank you very much everyone especially ADY for your wonderful advise, but now I can add my two cents worth and say, just add a bleeding hose into the Bongo, I'll ask Steve to add the pic and mum's the word.
