Are Both Wing Mirrors Retractable ?

Post by Bluespanner » Fri Jun 25, 2010 8:21 pm

I never paid this much attention but do both wing mirrors retract from the control inside the cab or is it just the drivers side ? If its both then I have a prob with passenger side. Have tried moving slider switch on the panel to the left but nothing, no noise, nothing. Any suggestions as to poss solutions if both sides should work..I've had the Bongo for 5 yrs I should know better really. Cheers chaps !!

Both mine fold in and out with the switch (many times a day round here), but as we see so often on here NO TWO BONGOS ARE ALIKE

they should both retract, try folding it the wrong way, it'll feel wrong, but the motor should take over, it may be as simple as it's got out of synch, or it could be the internals have given up or the wiring between the door & body has snapped.

this also worked for me as a friend bent it 'backwards' if you like for 'checking' her hair at Download. When it was time to pack up and leave the passenger mirror wouldn't fold out.

Pushed it back and pushed the button and all was well with the world again. Mirror wise anyway :D

Let us know how you get on, always good to know if a tip worked or not.

Tried the pushing it forward trick, no luck there, so now am investigatng the wiring between door and van. This was the problem when my number plate lights stopped working. The wiring between the back door and the van had become frayed through years of opening and shutting. I cut and rejoined the wiring with some small electrical connectors and it worked a treat.
