Hi All,
Finally managed to get the cooling system sorted and actually have a night away in the Bongo!
However for that full Bongo luxury feeling I would like my AC to work - I have the digital controls but nothing happens at all when I turn the AC on - no click from the condensor clutch - looking at http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =condensor suggests my refrigerant level might be low - is there any other way of telling the level without shorting out sensors etc? Is it the same fuse number on the digital aircon (#6?). I'll check that later too.
Whats the usual cost for a refrigerant change (& aircon service) for a Bongo - so I can have a benchmark when getting quotes!
cheers,
Steve

Recharge is around the £50 mark. or you can get a DIY item at Halfords - same sort of cost but works more than once.
Don't know if the digital one has a switch for the fan, but the aircon won't come on without the fan.

Re: air con won't work!
Mine, at Southern prices, cost £88 for a service, refrigerant change, oil, dye and leak testing. This was from an air con specialist with a lot of Japanese import experience. The cost varied depending on how much refrigerant was needed, mine was down to about a third of where it should have been.
The improvment was immediate and immense. The air con is now really cold
. Up to modern standards, get in boilling car, turn on AC and everything cools straight down. Add the back system and its a travelling fridge. Perfect for the temperatures round here this summer.
All worked before. It was just loosing its ummph slowly. First hot day and an hour's traffic jam, the problem was obvious. Well worth doing. Local Kwik Fit do not have a good reputation concerning AC on anything unusual.
