And This Months Problem Is . . . .

Post by mister munkey » Mon Jun 28, 2010 8:16 pm

Got up for work this morning at 6AM. On the road by quarter past. Drove about a mile & was woken up for the second time by the Mason Alarm (set at 5.5) chirping.

Pulled up & noticed pretty much straight away an increasing pudlle of rusty stained pink coolant running down the gutter.

Gutted.

Flipped bonnet to check header tank & noticed it was still cold, gently released cap & a pint or two escaped straight away.

Left it for a few mins with engine off but fans running to settle but found the header tank level to stay at the top. Nursed gently downhill home, Mr Mason far too active much too quickly & so took Mid Life crisis sports car to work.

The RAC have been out today in the company of Mrs M & revved it at 2000rpm for over 15 mins in an attempt to get it up to temp (I spoke to her on the fone when this was going on and advised immediate shutdown) but it had stayed solidly on the C mark, not nudging at all off Cold.

Obviously a problem somewhere, airblock? If so why & how? & rather hoping no serious damage has been done.

Otherwise I can feel an early Bonfire Night coming on.

Currently in the local Bongo Hospital but my faith in their care is beggining to fade.

Doesn't sound good, deffo airlocked, but the nasty question is why? could it be leaking hose joints? Unfortunatley I've come to the inevitable conclusion due to my airlock symptoms getting worse that my head has gone & getting worse after months of clutching at straws :( Steel seal on order, got nowt to lose, can't afford proper job.
Fingers crossed for ya MM, may be time to find a new garage though by the catalogue of problems?

Hi
GERHOSH...I am so sorry for you....I know it's not always possible to see , but there is a bright side quite often...the bodywork is good, so replacing mechanical stuff just means you can add that thing to the list of items you won't have to replace again in a hurry...and as Kirsty says....rethink on the garage!
Cheers
Helen
In the beginning there was nothing , then God said "Let there be Light".....There was still nothing , but ,by crikey, you could see it better.

That's rotten! Hope it's sorted quickly and cheaply.

Has your Bongo only started playing up regularly since you got your Mid Life Crisis Sports Car? Do you think it's jealous (particularly as it's another Mazda).

Thanks chums. :D

It WILL get sorted & to be honest I don't care too much about the cost. This may be the time to replace the aged looking radiator, most of the old hoses are crunchy when you squeeze them so could probably do with replacing too. I'm thinking of just getting the whole kit & caboodle sorted once & for all. Saves future faffing around.

Needless to say. As soon as its out its a short drive to Waynes for a secondary bleed to make sure its been done proplerly.

Best attitude to have, treat it as an investment.
