Driving Bacup to Sheffield, got to Matram roundabout after doing 65/70 for 20 mins and temp shot up and Hadon alarm started sounding, the low water alarm didin't sound. The temp dropped as soon as I started mooving again, like I was getting water through the system but hovered a little high in the que at Motram... there was a smell of coolant water but temp came down to 1pm on the dial.
Then had to climb the Snake pass heading to Sheffield, again temp started sounding at summit. So I pulled over and let it cool a littel, once again though, the temp dropped straight back to 1pm on the dial as sooon as I started rolling. On the final climb out of the Snake to Sheffield the temp went high again, the low level alarm never sounded.
As I pulled up on my drive I noticed a leek from, I think, one of the metal pipes for the rear heating (mostly removed by Wellhouse). Finally the low level alarm came on when I re-started the engine.
Questions are, did the leek cause the overheating OR did the overheating force the corrision in the pipe to leek... Why did temp go so high in the first place (trouble free all season this year)... Radiator OR thermostat need replacing ?
Amazingly a bit of plumbers tape has stopped the leek enougth for me to nurse him to the garage for repairs, I want to replace the pipe that is corroded, can any one ID this pipe and does anyone know where I can get a replacment part ?
Many thanks for Help.
Leek is at the point where the Red pipe T-section is, can see the bit of plumbers tape on the hole !
