Axle Oil - what type please?
Hi there - Is the oil you use for the Axels a special type or the standard 10W - 30 used elsewhere?
Thanks
Thanks

Definitely not 10w/30.
It's an EP oil but are you talking front or rear axle and do you have a limited slip differential?
There's a Lubricants fact sheet in the Member's Area

Hi SB
Thanks for the reply - Just read the factsheet. Mine's 2.5d 4WD, so it looks like SAE90 (GL5) on both the front and back.
Thanks again

Re: Axle Oil - what type please?
hi ive just done my oils
front dif, rear dif, transfer box, with a product called millars syntran 11 great results and 100000 miles change interval,so thats it done for ever!!
what you must check though is whether you have limited slip difs, the oils for these are different,
mine are standard difs, not limited slip.
hope this helps.

Any motor factors or Halfrauds etc will have it.

How do you know by looking if you have a LSD or not?

Wait until a technical bod gives you a proper answer, but meanwhile, you might be able to find out by entering your VIN number here http://www.ruzip.ru/eumz/eumzcat.aspxPeterP wrote:How do you know by looking if you have a LSD or not?

Put your vin no in the lower set of boxes on this site
http://www.ruzip.ru/eumz/eumzcat.aspx
sgl3 or whatever in the first box & the rest of the number in the 2nd box, it'll tell you whether its a normal or limited slip diff, don't even need to go outside
Too slow
