good bongo mechanic barnsley area needed please

Post by wrighty » Tue Jul 06, 2010 5:06 pm

or one where i can get home on bus or train and pick up later. ime losing water fairly quickly but all my tests and visual checks have come up with nothing. ive had it pressure checked at local garage and he said nothing happened over the period checked. he asked me what the bleed pipe was and looked dumfounded when i told him(at this my confidence in him went even though he`d been well recommended by local vw enthusiasts). i also have the whistling when i put the foot down (doesnt happen if build up slow) a problem that seems greater for a period after ive towed the caravan. also when starting from cool after towing caravan it really blasts some white smoke out. i really need someone to look at this for me and maybe also fit one of the new temperature gauges and coolant level alarms depending on cost if there is something expensive wrong with bongo. so can some one please recommend a proper bongo mechanic for me (reasonable charges of course lol)

of course if inbetween finding a mechanic someone could point out if they know what the symptoms mean this also would be appreciated. thank you for reading and answering if you do

My guess would be head gasket or Cylinder head......not what you want to hear but thats what I think.
Many cracked heads seem to pass the pressure test.

Got to agree with Haydn, especailly if you're getting white smoke, chances are it'll not show up on a sniffer test either.

Agree with above - the whistling sounds like the number one inlet manifold stud broken (very common)

The Bongomiester's cave is around Sheffield way. he should be able to point you in the right direction.
