Seat Bolts

Hi, Can kind soul out there confirm to me the bolt size that is used to hold the front seats to the sliding rails?

I seem to remember that it's a 12mm socket size, which should mean M8.

I would go and check myself, but I'm on an oilrig at the moment.

Still working on the reversed front seat ideas. All will be revealed......

Hi Dave, I have removed a bolt and it is actually M10 x 1.25mm thread, about 30mm overall length with a tapered lead and an integral flange and washer. (14mm socket fits it)

Ok, progress so far.

Seat removed. Steel cut to create a quick-release front mounting. Won't work as a rear mounting when the seat is reversed. Bugger. Back to the head scratching.

Plan B. Steel fabricated to create a quick release rail system for the inside rail. Works a treat. Can't really test if it will be Ok with the seat reversed yet, since I've only done one rail - when I swap the seat, the top half has nowhere to 'quick-attach' to.

Outer rail side to be completed tomorrow.

If my cunning plan comes together, the it will be a case of unscrewing 2 thumbscrews, removing the seat, reversing, re-attaching and sitting down.

Looks like it would be a good idea on the driver's side too, so I can whip the seat off quickly to get to that side of the engine (full conversion).

So - If this works, do I create a fact sheet, or go into production and sell on ebay......

Sounds like a cunnning plan about to be realised Factsheet of course but you could probably still make a healthy lump of pocket money on fleabay

Full set of seat reversers made and tested. Seat reverses OK, but the inside set don't engage with the seat in backwards - the backrest tilt release lever and plastic cover are fouling the engine cover. This means that the left hand side / inside of the seat is raised slightly preventing my brackets from meeting each other.

For this weekend, it will be OK. I think that raising the seat up off the runners by about 10mm more will give me enough clearance.

Pity, since the additional metalwork currently only adds 10mm to the seat height.
