Shock Absorbers

Hi, I was wondering if anyone could help. I am looking to buy both front and rear shocks for my 1995 2.5D 4WD Bongo. The only ones I can seem to find are the standard oil filled manufacturers ones (originally made by Tokico I believe) and they will cost about £320 all round. I have purchased after market gas adjustable shocks at a fraction of this price for other vehicle I have had and really begrudge paying lots for standard shocks. I have tried KYB, Koni, Bilstien and a few others but they do not recognise the OE Part number. The number from the rear shock is S10H28700B. I read a previous thread from Sept last year from dave_aber but it stated the part no as S10H28700C (I am not sure if that the number for the front shocks as I have not taken the wheel off to check) he mentioned these http://www.explorerprocomp.co.uk/acatal ... S3000.html - you need part number 320500, £38.10 each (inc VAT) but the garage in Knutsford doesnt seem to exist anymore as their phone number is unobtainable. If any one knows where I can buy decent aftermarket shocks without paying through the nose it would be greatly appreciated.

I ordered a front shock from a kyb stockist ref the kyb part no as listed in the compatible parts list on here and guess what it was totally wrong had to pay a surcharge to return it cause i ordered it quoting the part no.I ordered a mazda one for the front and was quoted £65 +vat get it next week fingers crossed.

Sounds about right. I spoke to one of their suppliers first and gave him the chassis number to which they said that they could supply them but once I double checked with KYB themselves and confirmed the OE part number they said they dont do them in the UK. I'm surprised considering their a Japanese company, there must be a decent market for these in the UK considering the amount of Bongo's around. Hope all goes well with this one.

JUst got the mazda shocker today & guess what wrong one will have to go & see the so called partsman tomorow!

update on the shocker front finally got a shocker from mazda apparently the first one was labelled wrong, so got the right one in my hand today i'll post the part no's when i get the invoice.

Hi,not sure if KYB is the same company as KAYABA but part no's are front shocks, kayaba 343215 and rear shocks, kayaba 443179 been told you can get these from local motor factors

What noise were you getting from your shock?

I'm, interested as I have a "clunk" from the rear end, but it's been checked and it isn't the anti roll bar bushes.

I wondered if it was one of the shocks bottoming (or topping) out.

Sometimes the shock absorber bushes get to the point when you get a clonk, but check the brackets for the rollbar bushes...sometimes they crack, and the clonk is the bracket

How were they checked out? Difficult to say for sure with a visual insection, I had a broken bracket 6 weeks after fitting new bushes, but you couldn't see it unless you really looked. Could it also be rear droplinks?

OOOpps..my mistake..I thought I saw that you've had the droplinks done...yes...most Bongos end up with the droplinks/ brackets/ bushes...and boy do they feel better after

I had the same problem a few weeks ago, it was a broken bracket fitted 2 new ones spot on now.

Well, a good Bongo garage had a poke around and checked the bushes/brackets/links and all seemed ok.

However, I went and had a look under it tonight and started thumping the rear springs to see if there was any play. Left was ok, right has a little play in the spring which gives a little "clonk" when it moves sideways 1 or 2mm.

How is the spring attached? How could it have play in it?
