Engine Oil
Apologies if this has been covered before but I couldn't find an answer when I did a search. Can anyone recommend a 10W30 oil for use with the 2.5 turbo diesel engine and where to get it online?
I noticed that members can now get a 10% with Opie Oils and they have the following 10W30 oil:
Motul 4000 £19.79
Amsoil Synthetic £50.84
Redline Synthetic £49.26
I looked at the spec sheet for the Motul 4000 and it has API CF approval which can be used in place of a API CD oil which is the recommended oil on the lubricants fact sheet but no mention if it is suitable for use with a turbo.
Thanks
Paul

Re: Engine Oil
5W/30 is the recommended grade of oil
Quick search of forum comes up with http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =oil+grade

Re: Engine Oil
I read somewhere that 15w 40 was an acceptable alternative for older high milers. Is this wrong?

Mines on 137,000 miles (not kms) & I wouldn't use it.Nippon Tuck wrote:I read somewhere that 15w 40 was an acceptable alternative for older high milers. Is this wrong?

Re: Engine Oil
You are not wrong, as you can use that grade. But you will find that due to its higher viscosity, the engine friction will be higher and you will notice a drop in your MPG figures. Best to stick to 10W/30 or lower IMHO.
Re: Engine Oil
You could use any grade, even 20/50, but you wouldn't want to.Dr.Jekyll wrote:You are not wrong, as you can use that grade. But you will find that due to its higher viscosity, the engine friction will be higher and you will notice a drop in your MPG figures. Best to stick to 10W/30 or lower IMHO.
