Changing belts

Hi

I have just changed the head gasket so I am not a complete idiot but I have put the engine back together and I can not put the new belts on(water pump and alternator) not sure if I am tired but I can not for the life of me get the two alternator belts on. :(

May be they're just a tad shorter, try taking out the bottom swivel bolt on the alternator to allow it to move in a bit further, should give you enough slack to get the belts on, rotate the pulleys a bit as you're putting them on too, using a screwdiver to help gently lever them over the pulley rim. Don't forget to put the alternator bottom bolt back in :wink:
