Hi All
Sadly my lovely bongo failed its mot due to a steering fluid leak. The guy said he couldn't see where it was coming from but that I would need a new rack. I thought this a bit odd if he was unsure where the leak was coming from.
My mates a mechanic although unfamiliar with bongos but he is going to help my out
I've been reading past forums & it would seem the logical course of action would be
1) find where the leak is coming from
2) try wynns stop leak
Would I be right in thinking that the seals are a common problem rather than the rack?
If i need seals I know i can get them from the shop but where would I go for a rack?
The bongo isn't making any weird noises & I've never noticed any issues with the steering so was a bit surprised at the report
Any help much appreciated

Top pinion seal is the common one http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html - seal kits available on ebay or the likes of AVA & Bongobits
Easy enough to do it in situ - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=39386
For the purposes of passing an mot I just used to clean it all off really well just before going & it passed 2 years in a row with a leaky seal as there was no visible signs.
Have you checked the power steering fluid level?

You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

miss is right... clean it off and take it back for a retest... if the tester cant see a leak he cant fail it...simple (no need for proof of repair or owt)!!
dont put wynns in,you could end up with more problems(bit like rad weld..NO NO NO!!).
if it is leaking sort it out properly... remember, fix it cheap fix it twice. a recon rack'll prob set ya back £70 ish...
