I-alert dilemma

Hi everyone,

now my overheating problems are behind me (I hope) what temperature should I set the I-alert alarm. The I-alert sensor is now taped to the top hose, and after a bit of running about has never gone above 83 degrees C. If I set the alarm to go off at 87 is this a bit low? and will I get nuisance alarms? on the other hand If I set it too high it may not give me time to stop. Any advice welcomed.

I have mine set at 85, on average mine run's between 72-75. It went off once but I was sat crawling in a traffic jam, stop starting for about 45 minute's and to be honest on hearing the alarm I hadn't got a clue what it was as I'd forgot it was fitted

These type of thermometers are a bit of an enigma as per what they should read......I don't think there is a "set" temperature range for them......

hi is yours on the head stud?? gasace has his fitted on the top hose,just checking we are comparing like for like.

My top hose temps (when it's running right) generally run between 82 - 88 degrees c & then go up to around 91-92 degrees under heavy load, so I'd set it at low 90's or it'll be going off all the time.

My iAlert is bolted to the head at the back (as per Haydn) and is set to A0 (100).

My normal running temp on a run in the hot weather was 91ish but went up to 97/8 in crawling traffic and the alarm was set to 97 which was a bit stupid as that is the temp the fans cut in and bring the temp back down again. So decided to set it to 100

Temp is much lower running round town but I think the 100 mark is a good enough warning mark

Hi, Haydn siad it could be fitted to the top hose so that's where it's gone. Also after contacting Haydn we found both our V6's were running pretty much in the same range.
