will 225-45-18 tyres fit my Bongo?

Post by Oggy Bongo » Sun Jul 18, 2010 10:33 am

I have been offered a set of 18" wheels that need 225-45-18 tyres. The stud fitments will fit but i need to know whether these tyres and wheels will fit my 1998 Bongo with enough clearance etc?
Thanks everyone.

I have 225/55/17 with no probs..... so I can vouch for the 225....

Looking at This calculator then speedo should read correct ....

Just make sure the Tyres have the correct load rating...

The short answer is - not on the rear axle as the spec there is "not less than 96" - 95 is OK on the front as the spec there is "not less than 92".

However the decision is yours.

yes scanner i would agree with that but i have had 95xl on mine and what the tyre firm said is that they would be fine as they are extra load

Surely that's extra load up to the 95 rating, but still below the 96 required :?
As a matter of interest, do the tintops have different ratings shown on the door panel bit?

Nope 92/96.

If the "extra load" increased the load index it wouldn't still be 95 would it?
