Front drop links

Post by rclapp » Fri Jul 16, 2010 5:32 pm

Hi,
I need to change the near side front drop link and have a couple of questions :?

1. Do you always need to change both sides at the same time.

2. Are the heavy duty ones worth the money or should I stick with the standard ones.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

With Drop links, best to go for a pair......in fact I always.....and advise too...that all the mounting points connected to the Anti Roll Bar be changed.
The reason really is that of you change the drop links then sure as eggs is eggs you will be changing the ARB bushes/brackets in couple of weeks.....as the new links will show up the wear in the bushes....

As for which drop links....yer pays yer money.....some are rubbish, some people use Vauxhall Vectra ones with some sucess.....

Just replaced mine with Vectra ones, £14.30 inc P&P from ebay, will see how they last but the old ones were shot. Easy job and no more knocking from the front.

Here's a thread with comparisons etc of a few different ones - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... =3&t=37754 - I fitted my third set in 3 years just before it's mot earlier in the year, I don't expect the last ones to last either, but I had to fit them to get it through the mot, I'll be going for proper job Mazda/blueprint ones next time, more expensive but considering the original Mazda ones lasted @13 years.....
