Nothing blowing from vents

Post by Retro Bates » Wed Jul 21, 2010 5:17 pm

I have what could be a simple problem. When I turn the fans or sir con on I get nothing blowing. The sound are all right from the air con and engine but no wind. Help! I'm with my mechanic now.

If fan is not working, the resistor pack has probably failed - usually needs resoldering. Run a wire directly to the fan motor to check if that is still working. Resistor usually fails because fan has become stiff.

Cold be the Fan resistor pack (if manual air system) or transistor the auto version located here;

I was actually checking the transistors with the probe.

FAQ here http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... 43&t=28727 that should point you at the answers, could be the motors got wet & needs stripping & refurbing, take the scoop off the front & see if the motor spins freely, not a difficult job if so, there're factsheets on that & the fan speed resistor/control pack, do you have digital climate control or manual ac?

Maybe the connection by your left foot has come adrift

Or is the noise the rad fan running if it's switched to ac? check to see if the ac fan is actually running.

If its blowing but not coming out of the vents, it could be this Old Chestnut rearing its head again.

Worth checking the linkage by your left foot.

Thankyou for the kind suggestions.

He tried the resisitor, but that wasn't it, after about 10 minutes tracing where the problem could be, he came across a loose connection in the wiring. It had somehow come loose of its own accord. I'm glad it was noticed before I left.
