Remote central locking

Post by Nettynoo » Tue Jul 06, 2010 10:36 pm

Hi all, I am a newbie to the site, so apologies if this is a question that has been asked before, by all means if you can direct me to the topic, that would be great.
Anyway, I have discoverd that tonight my remote central locking has stopped working. I can get the central locking to work by pushing it down while the door is open, then shutting the door. I can then use the key fob to turn on the immobiliser. I confess that my speaker stopped working a while ago and I have been looking behind the radio housing, so i could have pulled somethin out or disturbed something. Also i have noticed a red and black wire and a black wire have been damaged in the door gap (although I think this is the speaker cable)
Any help/advice would be great
thanks so much

could well be the wire between the door & body, could also be low battery voltage? Will the central locking not work with a key then? could be the relay or fuse, this thread may help - http://www.igmaynard.co.uk/bongo/forum/ ... ng#p426010 - the fuse list is in the members area factsheets.
You can't polish a turd - but you can roll it in glitter.

Hi
thanks for this, I will check this thread, fuse and the battery. No the key won't make the central locking work.
Thanks for the quick reply, wish me luck!

If you stick your location in your profile by clicking on user control panel, top right, there may even be someone nearby that can help.

I don't know whether others have had the problem because it's a bit odd, but when it's very hot my central locking becomes very unreliable. This has happed with both the Bongo and my previous car. Daft question, but does it work in the evening when it cools down?

Sounds to me like the old door loom... How are the windows working? A black wire is normally the earth for the window switch..!

Kirsty asked this before.. Does the key turn in the drivers door lock the whole vehicle?

Where is your rough location, someone may be able to help?

Works fine on mine! & can bake bread in my vehicle when left in the sun fer long periods...

Could be a dodgy earth to the control unit?

Hi guys
thanks for the tips so far. The key does lock all the doors when using the key, so the central locking is working...it just seems to be the remote locking that is not working.....any other ideas?

Reading your last two posts... I would be looking at continuity in the remote CL control box & the wires (Should be two of em?) going to the actuator..? If an aftermarket system???
