Fuel supply to an Eberspacher
Hi,
Does anyone know whether I should "T" into the top or bottom fuel pipe going into the Bongo fuel pump? Looking at dandywarhols picture, I can't quite see which one it is, I'm guessing one is a fuel return to the tank.
I gave dandy a call, but think he's still out in the wilderness!

Or you could add an extra dip tube into the tank sender unit plate. I did this, and made it shorter than the main one, so no chance of running dry. TBH, they use next to no fuel. If you ran the tank dry you'd probably be cooked.

Hi. I have mine as a "T" before the filter. i also fitted an inline filter, as used on most off road bikes .make sure you use the supply to the pump line and not the return
,also it must point down.or you will have air lock problems .I did until i read about pointing it down wards on this forum, cant remember who it.

mine will work ok even when on 90% veg oil,yes I did try it in the summer, last week up in Althwaite, very toasty when i got back from the Pheasent

Mine (Webasto Airtop 2000) seems prone to overheating when on veg oil.
When I initially installed it, it would overheat if I'd been driving. I cured this by fitting a combustion air inlet pipe (previously, the inlet was open, and drawing air from around the turbo)
When I stuck veg oil in (about 40% approx. mix) the heater kept on cutting out on overheat again.
Tried it once I'd run on diesel for a few tanks - all OK.
Could be coincidence, and I need my heater servicing.....

I'm sure I remember reading it was a no-no to run them on veg oil?

Thanks all, now fitted, just needs the controls hard-wiring into the van.
Only prob is that it's not staying on for long with the LB powering it, unless the engine is running to keep the voltage above the 10.5v min required.
Guess it's time to buy a new LB

Have you used heavy cable and checked all the connections, (including earths), are really good, they pull a high current when starting which can show up any weakness in the wiring.stilldesperate wrote:Thanks all, now fitted, just needs the controls hard-wiring into the van.

The other thing I noticed is that it's red hot (on full power) with the engine running, but only tepid with the engine off. I wonder if I've tapped into the fuel return, and, without the engine circulating the excess fuel, it's not getting sufficient diesel?
I had the unit tested before fitting, and it was fine, so I'm sure it's just a "tweak" needed, and, as long as it's ready for the winter, I'll be happy.
