Lime green leak.......

A lime green fluid has started leaking from, what looks like, a coolant drain point (never seen lime green coolant?!?!) on the under side of the front right not far from the rear of the fog light. It drips slowly after only a short run, Vans still under warranty for another month, but supposed to be going on holiday in the beast next week. What am I looking at, and what is the likely problem? I'm a little worried to say the least!!!

What colour is your window washer fluid?, could be the pipe going to the back leaking.

Unfortunately my washer fluid is blue!

if it's under warranty wizz it back to get it sorted.......sounds like the rad could be leaking... may have a small split through age....

Very true, I was just hoping to do a spot of fault diagnosis myself as the garage is 40 miles away and I can't get there till the weekend!

You have a coolant leak somewhere, possibly rad. Green antifreeze is still common.

It's a shame it's not something as simple as needing to tighten the coolant drain plug. No wonder you're asking for advice, as if you do have to drive 40 miles with leaking coolant, it's risky, you'll obviously need to be very careful. I wonder if it's worthwhile ringing your garage for their advice, to ensure that your warranty isn't affected if you have to do this?

I certainly will be calling them with the good news first thing in the morning! The problem only became apparent when I came out of work at half five, to find a puddle under the front right of the thing!

Check to see if your coolant is the same colour in the header tank & see if the level has dropped. Anything on here look familiar? - http://www.lushprojects.com/bongopartsm ... mgno=.html

Has the level in the tank under the bonnet dropped below the LOW line ??
If it has I wouldn't be driving it anywhere.
If the coolant leak emptys the tank you will overheat very quickly (do not rely on the temp gauge) and the damage can be VERY expensive.

Upon further investigation, it appears the leak is coming from somewhere near the top of the radiator as there is evidence of spraying on the underside of the bonnet, whilst the rest dribbles a path down to the bottom corner of the rad. Would coolant come out of the top of the rad at enough velocity for it to spray? Also coolant level is between the high and low marks.....for now!

Is it definatelty coolant and not a/c ? if dye has been installed the it could be the condensor leaking?just a thought.

Yup, sounds like the seam has split, common issue, some have got away with crimping the lugs back over. It will spray as it's a pressurised coolant system, you'll probably find it's airlocked which is why the level hasn't dropped.

That seems the most likely explanation at this point. I'll give it a wee top up before heading down to the garage in gloucester. At least this has happened the week before holiday and not during! Thanks for your help everyone.

Watch your temp gauge like a hawk...if it even "thinks" of moving up from what is normal.STOP.
