turbo to manifold gasket

Post by falcoron » Sat Aug 14, 2010 9:27 am

hi all,
i thought i had the usual manifold / stud problem as i was getting a diesel smoke smell in the cabin. on inspection the engine covered in soot, so ordered a gasket and some studs just in case. took the cover off yesterday and all the studs are ok. but the bolts holding on the turbo to the manifold were loose. and was leaking fumes from there. i tightened up but still got a leak. can someone tell me how much i need to strip off to replace this gasket or is there an easy fix? see link for part below ( part no 13-480A)

falcoron,
it's going to be bit fiddly doing it in place but should be ok. As well as the studs (10-139) you will have to undo 13-523 bolt and maybe one more further down the exhaust 99796-1090 (1) (see link), to give you the room to pull it apart. :D
