What oil for V6 ?

Hi All,

Its time for service before the cold weather comes in , my question to all you bongoliers out there ... what make and grade of oil would you recommend for my 1999 2.5 V6 . I have looked through the tech pages and all i can find is this ...

For petrol engines, the owner’s manual recommends API SE, SF or SG, but the
former two are just about unobtainable now, so use API SG.

What does that mean ?

Factsheet in the members area expalins about the oil grades, basically I'd suspect the other grades are obsolete as it's based on 15 yr old data, the SG will be a higher grade & backwards compatible, as long as the viscosity is right ie 10w-30 you should be ok.

Oh whilst you are there, i was looking in the bongo shop for a set of filters for my V6 priced at £60.50 .. it does not state year of bongo so i assume its the same filters for all V6 Bongos whatever the year ?

I believe they are all the same regardless of year as the V6 engine changed very little throughout the production run.
