Well my girl is booked in for Friday to try and figure out where her oomph has gone, and while there I have asked for a service cost.
First time I will have serviced her, so want the usual fuel/air/oil filters changed, and a general look over.
What can I expect to pay for this? noticed the filters can be got for about £35 - £40, so its then oil, and labour.
Service costs ?

Re: Service costs ?
When you bought your Bongo in July, you said that it had a cylinder head, a timing belt fitted & "a service".
I would of thought that the parts you mention should have been fitted.
Engine oil & filter need replacing every 3000-6000 miles (5000-10,000km) depending on quality of oil & who you listen to.
A fuel filter should last 12000-24000 miles (20,000-40,000km)if you have a clean fuel tank & don't fill it with contaminated fuel.
An air filter should last a similar time but it's life will be shortened dramatically if you drive in a dusty environment.
If a "quality" service has been done when you first collected your Bongo, then I don't think doing another one now will fix your current lack of Oooomph problem.

Re: Service costs ?
I bought it off a friend who had it sorn for 12 months, due to the cylinder head.
The cylinder head was done, but they could not afford the service too, so all the filters and oil are as were, and it sat for a very long time. Appreciate it wont sort the ooomph out, but think it would be wise to get it all done, being a new owner and all that.
My ooomph problem is wierd, sometimes its fine, others it just chockes all over the place in a could of thick black smoke.

Re: Service costs ?
Service costs can and do vary from area to area and garage to garage, same as tyre prices, all you can do is shop around or go on people advice.

Re: Service costs ?
Bit late with this reply.
Do you want me to have a look at it next time I'm over in Barrow?
Could be one of many simple things.
If you need a service/diagnosis you couldn't do much better than John Kieth on Moor Lane in Flookburgh. If he can't sort it then he'll usually ask me. I have a good look around every bongo her services.
H
ps: John is usually happy to fit parts supplied by the owner with unusual vans like the bongo.

Cheers Harry
The old girl is running sweet now, slight drip fixed, and full service later and a big improvement.
