Hi All,
I have been trawling through the net for a cambelt kit for my 1999 V6 2.5i petrol model. I hesitate with ebay for quality as this part is critical. In the bongo shop they only do the belt but i have been advised to changed the tensioner at same time. Has anyone got a good recommendation as to where i can purchase both items with knowledge that the parts are of good quality.
Many thanks all........Harry

With the V6 I understand it is o.k. to change just the belt providing there is no apparant wear on the tensioner bearings......The cost of the whole kit is loads. I know a mechanic who has done plenty and never found any wear at all.

I had all mine done for me when i bought my new Bongo as part of garages pre delivery preparation. Apparently the belt tentionser was showing signs of wear, the garage said they changed this part too and this part alone was £250.00!!
If anyone is unsure of the service history of any Bongo engine get the cambelt changed by a specialist unless you are an expert in this field and can do it yourself.

End of!

I do believe that someone had a kit from the states, but the belt is no good to many teeth as it for the 3ltr 929 the tensioners were the same tho i think, trawl thru ebay motors if you need a tensioner i have seen the same part numbers there considerably cheaper but that is ofcourse if they will post outside states
Don't quote me on any of the above tho
Dar
All disclaimers count as i know nothing
BUY A V6er i like my affair with the petrol pump

Hi Cozmo,
Thats rather expensive for a tensioner , trawling the net they average £75 and a wide variation on the belt , anything from £30 to £85. The mechanic i use has his own little workshop and had never seen a Bongo before but when i told him where the engine was he knew right away and said it was the same for some other Japanese makes. Like you say if you are unsure get the professionals do the job.
