could you link them into fog lights as they have a seperate switch?
Re: whats the law on fitting after market spots?
You could, but this would make the fog lights useless, due to the 'bounce back' of the light from the spots in fog, plus fog lights should only be used in fog or falling snow.chipvan wrote:could you link them into fog lights as they have a seperate switch?
Much better to use a separate switch, and feed the spots via the main beam, this gives you all the possible combinations that are legal (and useful!)
When asked about Western Civilisation, Ghandi said 'that would be a good idea'...
Re: whats the law on fitting after market spots?
If you tried linking the spots into the existing factory fog loom in addition, it would cause an overload possibly due to the lower resistance in the fog loom wires intended for just the fogs...?!!
The intended added spots need a separate circuit triggered by the main beam...
Spot lamps as Dandy has said need/are required to come on with main beam, so they can be dipped with the headlights for potential/inevitable oncoming traffic!!
Suggesting an isolation switch for the spot circuit (mine is inline from the earth on the relay) which helps uncomplicate things during MOT testing on the beam alignment??
A spot used in a fog or heavy snow situation would just reflect of the weather condition, probably causing more impairment to road visibility than just dipped beam...

Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...
