heres the unit that came with the car . the cd doesnt work and the radio is pants poor reception. id like to install a DAB radio and Cd player.

can anyone suggest a double din unit that i could replace this unit with?

its a bit messy but i understand that the aerial is on the right of the photo and hopefully the loom of wires with the white plastic socket is standard so i can plug it into the new unit. presumably i'll need a new aerial if i want DAB?

Bit confused why I need this adapter .Is this for japanese units? The one I've got was installed by a uk garage as there was a gaping hole in the dash when it came in from japan.

Ah sorry - I thought you meant one of the original Japanese double din jobs, especially as the radio is rubbish #-o #-o

Hi,

When I replaced the original jap radio in my Bongo (also had the tv too) with a new Blaupunkt I had rubbish reception too. It turns out, that even though I had the aerial lead plugged in at the back, when I eventually took the tv out too there was another radio connector to that, which was unplugged (must be a splitter for both original radio and tv from the single aerial) and so the lead I did have, didnt go anywhere!

So my advice before you splash the case is to make sure that the radio lead plugged in at the back can be traced all the way back to the main antenna connection.

So, my radio sort of worked but mainly didnt (the aerial was effectively the dead end antenna lead which was why I got something occasionally) - but after I found this out and got the correct antenna connection I now have crystal clear reception!!

cheers,

Steve

You might consider this..
http://www.incarexpress.co.uk/view_prod ... no=KWXR811
which is pretty awesome but the DAB adapter is extra. No too many double DIN units available from mainstream manufacturers unless you want DVD/TV too!!
Live Bongo and prosper.
