roof chunked

Post by jutwit » Fri Sep 17, 2010 11:07 am

hi guys, just put a roof rack on my freeda and whilst up there noticed quite a lot of chunks taken out of the aft, some of them are over an inch in diameter and i can see the fiberglass matting and feel it, so they are quite deep, there is evidence that the previous owner had a rack on and it looks like they didnt care to much about how things were put on the rack as most seem to be on the middle edges on both sides. is this serious? because it is becoming apparent that the previous owner has abused the freeda and botched things on the way, (silicone in the sills and sprayed over with under seal, body filler galore) to be honest im getting fed up with this bloody freeda and i think it might be time to get a new shape one instead. oh nearly forgot my back door is not shutting properly anymore, it rattles when im driving along and if you give it a pull it does the same, how do i tighten it up or is it a body shop only thing? thanks in advance.

reg the back door - you can adjust the catch on the boby of the van so it engages better with the door latch.

It sounds like yours needs some tlc. Get the coolant and mechanical things checked - if they're badly looked after, then that's a potential for more concern.

re the back door .
i spent bl**dy weeks messing with the lock/catch on mine, adjusting and testing, when the engine was turned off it used to rattle, then i noticed that the two metal (tenons)that fit into the rubber lined receivers,at each side and half way down the door length, were slightly out of line,2 seconds to undo/adjust and its been quiet ever since.

keep plodding on mate, one day you will have nothing to do.
