some times a good couple of thump's, inside, low down centre of the door will free the mechanism.
the handle is held on with a circlip.
Lost without my Bongo.

Its quite a solid thwump that is needed as DBO says, 1/3 up in the middle from the inside it should then buzz, whirr and click as normal.

Did you have a flat battery as that's the usual reason.

No battery is fine,is this likely to be an electrical or complicated part problem or more of a summat dropped off and re attach problem ?

No, it's just seized up, lack of lubrication - happened to me (my Bongo I mean.. ). There is a lever/cam arrangement that operates, via a bowden cable, a catch on the back edge of the door. You can get at it without removing the door handle (I couldn't figure out how to remove it either..!). I used a walking pole - just poke about on anything that looks like a lever/cam and it will give - don't use your fingers!

When it's working , spray everything in sight with WD40 or silicon. Worked for me and it's been over two years without any more trouble.

Hi

To get the handle off.

Insider trade only information here ;)

You need a 12inch length of soft cloth about an inch wide and a couple of thin flat head screwdrivers.

Slide screwdriver in behind handle at the side nearest the passenger seat but in front of the clear plastic spacer then angle screwdriver so as a space between spacer and handle is created 1/8 inch or so is fine, then slide the middle of the length of the material into this gap and and take one end up over the handle and down the other side wiggle the material back and forth till it drops in behind the handle and in front of the spacer, then hold firm pressure downwards on each end of the material and move it back and forth it will catch on the spring clip and pop it off and then you should be able to gently pull the handle off.

Did you hit it hard enough. You really do need to give it the sort of whack that would probably dent the Bongo if you did it on the outside  Goes without saying that you do it on the inside
