mid wales half term hols

If you are going away somewhere and don't mind meeting up with other Bongo owners or if you've been somewhere & want to tell us about it & stick up your photos, put the details here.

mid wales half term hols

Post by friendeedebs » Fri Sep 17, 2010 11:04 pm

After visiting Mid Wales and knowing that the hogggmans are there half term I thought...hmmm I wanna go back and explore more :)

So I booked into
Dolgunuchaf, Dolgellau http://www.guesthousessnowdonia.com/accom-camping.html Friday 22 October

then onto Erwbarfe http://www.erwbarfe.co.uk/cms/about/ Saturday 23 October until 26 October

then back to Dolgunuchaf Wednesday 27 October for one night before we head home and back to the grind :(

Both campsites allow campfires :) and good loos :D apparently according to reviews  time will tell

We're planning on visiting http://www.kingarthurslabyrinth.com/ on Saturday morning and the rest of the week...well I have no idea apart from going to http://www.devilsbridgefalls.co.uk/ but I have been googling and looking for more jaunts ...as I do ;) and asking knowledgeable friends :)

So if anyone fancies it I spoke to the campsite at Erwbarfe this morning and she said she has quite a few pitches at the moment

Sounds great Debs!

'Specially that one at Devils Bridge.

Best keep it to yourselves though otherwise all sorts of reprobates may turn up & ruin your holiday.

Hi Debbie
I know you don't know me (lol) but just noseying at your links there and the Erwbaife farm campsite looks lovely. Its an area we've never explored (I live in Llandudno).

Can I ask a Q though. For sites like this, I'm never sure whether to book as car and tent, or motorhome and awning. We are unconverted, and so not really a motorhome but don't want to appear to be 'taking the proverbial' with campsites..
e.g to book as motorhome+awning is an extra £2.00 over if we booked as car/tent (given that we stick a pop up tent next to the van which acts as a type of awning..

Confused? me too

Have bookmarked the site though as a definite visit for some point!

Yeh the area is lovely, I went a few weeks ago and want to go back and explore more :)

I have the same problem, bongo unconverted and pop up, for this site they said it was £10 for a motorhome and £2 for leccy, didn't ask about awnings. My friends who've booked are car and tent with leccy and it's costing them £13, they asked me how many adults children, but they didn't ask me that about my booking :?

I'm going to haven in a couple of weeks and they don't allow tents, I took my pop up and they told me off as it wasn't attached to the bongo ! even tho I said I use it as an awning but they let me put it up after an arguement as I promised not to move the bongo all weekend  so I'm taking my 'proper' awning this time

Just thought I'd confuse you back

Hey Loopyloo if you're free half term why don't you join us at the site for a few days? There's me and my (non bongo) mate and we're meeting up with some fellow bongoers who are slumming it in a warm cottage  but if anyone wants to join us they're very welcome :) be warned tho I have jaunts planned for daytime, usually involving water and heights   not that you'd have to join us on them, but it usually ends up fun :)

Hi Debs,

We're trying to work out if we can get there as we have all the kids that weekend. Maybe we could get to the 2nd campsite on the Friday night and stay over until the Sunday. We pick up my partners kids from Bristol on the Friday and drop them back on the Sunday and that's coming from London where we live. Also need to see if we can bribe my two teenage girls into a weekend of camping in Autumn.

Now I just need to think of ways to bribe the teenage girls to come and cross fingers they've not arranged anything for that weekend :)

Be great if you can, whatever days :) My lad is 7 and my friends camping with me have a 2 and 6 year old :) and there maybe others too. Would teenage daughters be tempted by camp fires or walks to waterfalls ?? or would that just put them off
Let me know if you book :) we could go on a lego hunt

Walks to waterfalls is one idea of a bribe as the eldest who is 16 is doing a World Challenge in summer and has to raise money to go, so may sponser her to camp.. lol. The 14 year old ...not sure yet, maybe some extra pocket money helping out with the younger ones :P

It's quite sad really, they used to love all that when they were younger.

Will let you know for sure when we've worked out logistics #-o :D
