Heater vent controls

My Bongo has the older mechanical slider controls for the heating/ventilation and the slider that controls which vents the air comes out of has stopped working. I have discovered that this is because the cable has come off the white plastic operating "disc" on the left side of the driver's footwell, under the dash. However I can't see exactly how to re-attach it. There's a ring nipple on the end of the cable and I think maybe a corresponding attachment point has come off the disc or something.

If some kind soul could post a photo of a properly attached cable that would be really helpful!
