Ford Ranger Head - With bleed port.

Post by dave_aber » Fri Oct 15, 2010 6:28 pm

I've just been looking at a Ford Ranger - helping the owner fit EGR blanks. His is an 03 model, 2.5TD.

I had previously understood that these engines were the same as the Bongo ones, except the cross docking stock which didn't have the bleed pipe port.

His does. It's an outlet to what looks like an EGR pipe cooler. The EGR pipe runs over the top of the rocker cover, and has a water jacket on it, with in and out water pipes. One end goes to where we have the bleed pipe.

I didn't check where the other end of this goes - I'll have another look when he's next round.

Did it split to 3? Image like that?, I too was led to believe that the ford ranger only had 2 outlets through people having bought complete heads :? , only other explenation could be if its a diesal or petrol ect or dependent on what year the ranger is :?: , maybe they have now put a bleed pipe on the new ones as they are prone to having problems whilst doing a coolant change

It does split 3-ways, just like the Bongo one, but where we have the bleed hose connected, the hose on the ranger goes to a jacket on the EGR pipe. 2003 model, 2.5TD ranger.

Happened to look under the bonnet of an 07 Ranger this morning & I'm sure it had 3 pipes off the head but the engine was a twin cam shaft diesel.
