bleeding with no bleed hose!

Post by spana » Sun Oct 17, 2010 12:42 pm

hello all, since having my new head fitted by ian taylor a few months back, i havent looked under the seat/bonnet in depth, this morning whilst "wintering up" the bongo, i noticed that i no longer have a bleed hose?! i was due to replace the thermostat for a genuine mazda one this weekend as part of "wintering up" but due to not having the bleed hose, left well alone.

i have read numerous threads on the bleeding system and am slightly confused around bleeding through this "sensor housing" people talk about, what sensor is it and where is it located?

i can't get hold of ian taylors today, will try tommorow to see which method he used to bleed it as whatever way he did it worked a treat as it hasnt skipped a beat since.

He probably uses a vacuum filling system. Strange that he didn't mention/notice the missing hose though . . . :?

I think you can fit a "T" peice in the turbo pipe and add your own bleed pipe

thats the thing, the hose was there before it went for its new head, i definatly remember spending 2 weeks trying to get it too bleed

im planning on fitting a tee onto the pipe, but i will speak to him to see how he does it, whats this "dairy" method?

It may have a Ford Ranger head on now, they don't have a bleed hose as there's no rear heater to complicate things.

There is a three way adaptor which can be retrospectively fitted to the head if ness.

Have a word with Ian, I'm sure he'll sort it for you at the next visit.

I would fit a bleed hose asap just in case it ever needs bleeding at the roadside or in a emergency.......having one will probably make the job easier for a novice bleeder.

i think im going to wait on a bit, im gonna rip the rear heater out at the same time and probably will fit a bleed pipe at a later day, im rekoning with no rear heater pipe work etc, then just lifting the front end will be ok. so far ive done 2000 miles since its new head and it hasnt skipped a beat :D

i'd get ian taylor to do it for me as im a bit busy at the mo, however he's moved even futher away from me now

hello all, finally got round to fitting new stat yesterday, however now i cant get it to bleed properly. first off tried to get air out through sensor housing... re-fitted when coolant appered. started her up and the heaters were stone cold, tried again and the same thing...

so today i have fitted a new make shift bleed hose onto a tee in the turbo coolant pipe and set about bleeding as per video's etc. however the heaters were still stone cold. and after 25mins of trying, the funnel boiled over (i was still getting air out at this point)

so my questions are
1, why wont my heaters blow hot? (is it an air lock or something more complex) felt the pipes by the heater matrix (the bit you can get to under bonnet) and they were cold too....

2, why did the funnel boil over? (again is this an air lock possibly in the front heater matrix)

3, if it is an airlock in the front heater matrix, how the hell do i get the air out?!

thanks in advance
spana
