HELP please.....side door jammed

Post by papillon » Sun Oct 17, 2010 2:00 pm

So,.....I had the radio on.... and I think for too long.... The battery was completely flat and even the sealey power pack wouldn't start it. Had to get jump start from another vehicle. Left it running for app. 1 hr and the engine now starts fine. I don't have a meter to check battery condition. Anyway...for some reason the sliding door won't open. I have had a few problems in the past when I needed to use the central locking twice in order to open it but that's about all.
I have obviously tried to open it manually with the key but still nothing. The interior and exterior handles 'move' as normal but the door won't open.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated
Many thanks

Check out THIS THREAD

It usually needs a firm, well positioned thump from the inside to wake up the gubbins.

Hi

I had the same problem yesterday-- door stuck-- and im useless with diy and car maintenance- but willing to try

I tried to bang the door and shake handle but still didnt open.. but somehow i managed to get the door lock button to fall inside the door. So gave up.

Today I jus tried to bang door again - nothing-- attempted to take door panel off-- well some of it and i noticed the door button has slipped to the left and is still on the wire but it wont move back into position

I need to remove all the door panel - but how do i get it over the handle??
Also- if i need to unplug a battery but have two starter batteries do i need to do it to both-- dont know how to that either- but will try

Hope it makes sense--

thanks

the door handle is held on with a circlip, you can see it if you press the panel near to the lower end, with a small screwdriver you can push the circlip from its open ends to remove it, you may have to push it from both sides as it can slip round a bit,

hope this makes sense

Mine stuck closed too.. the door latch inside and outside seemed to be working fine, but still wouldn't open. I banged the inside of the sliding door panel, and eventually got it free.
After the second time, I decided it was not an adjustment thing, it just needed some liquid silicone lube squirted on all the hinges and latches, and it hasn't happened since.
