The Bongo has arived
Hi all
Well my bongo has now arived, was a little worried as a few persons said it may have been a scam (sending money via bank draft) but It seem's my gut feeling was right it was genuine.
has a few bits missing (just from a quick look, listed a few in bongo bits wanted) not been to town on it yet so could be more.
noticed the switch for elec windows dont work any of them, unless I am doing somethng wrong, and on the short drive back the temp guage didnt seem to move ?
but could somebody tell me what you have to do to raise the auto freetop?& get it down again once up
inst there but in jap?
know it's prob a silly question but as never had one dont want to go breaking anything
thanks
steven
ps
if anybody knows what to look for & replace eng wise to give it a good check over please let me know

Re: The Bongo has arived
Window switch, check the wire loom between the drivers door & body.. Wires tends to snap!?
Cheaper by comparison to a race horse...

Re: The Bongo has arived
You should pray that the window issue sin't a switch - they are expensive. It's most likely a broken wire in the rubber connecting pipe from the bodywork to the driver's door - they go brittle and break.
Temp gague is heavily damped - but unless your short run was about a mile then you should have seen it go up to 'normal' (about 11 o'clock) where it should stay all day. It will move higher, but only after you have overheated. Search for low coolant alarm and mason alarm on here.
Roof Opening:
1. Engine running.
2. Handbrake ON
3. Check the handbrake ON light on the dash is lit. If not, then the roof won't beleive that the handbrake is on, and won't play.
4. Open a window, or door. The roof needs to suck in a huge volume of air, and preventing this will slow it down.
5. Press the roof button to the rear.
(I should have added before 1. - assemble some friends who will all gasp and say "WOW" at this point)
6. The beeping that starts when the roof unlocks from the down position will stop to tell you it is fully up. If it doesn't stop when the roof has stopped moving, then it hasn't pressed the microswitch at the top of the travel. Not uncommon. Lower the roof 6" and go back up a few times - it should go all the way up and lock.
Roof closing:
1. Engine running, Handbrake and dash-light ON. Window or door open.
2. Ceiling lowered, hatch open, check everything's out of the roof
3. Reach up to the lock cancel switch inside the roof, by the interior light, press it. The beeps should start.
4. Press the roof button forward.
5. The roof will lower, until it is about 8" from closed.
6. Last chance to check all is well inside, tent folding in incely, etc
7. Press roof button forward again
8. Keep pressed until the beeps stop. You can (just) hear the locks engaging outside the tent.
Enjoy!

Re: The Bongo has arived
Now you have your Bongo, we can sort out a few problems and let the fun begin!
It's often a problem with the wiring, but it may be worthwhile checking the fuse, in case it's blown. The fuse is pictured ON THIS LINK.noticed the switch for elec windows dont work any of them
If it has the standard temperature gauge, this should move to just below midway, once the engine has reached normal operating temperature. If it never moves off zero, then you should look further.on the short drive back the temp guage didnt seem to move ?

Sub note to Dave-aber's post...... try the roof up and down at least once on your own before you gather the friends
(for risk of looking like a charlie if it doesn't work)
All the best... Have fun!!
