Don't know why flossie didn't want one but one reason, for some at least, is weight/payload. My own Bongo, with its full camper and LPG conversions, is already at the limit for practical payload operation.

Oh, and yes that's right. SG5W does not mean tintop - ours is a winter-spec V6 AFT SG5W-SE.

(The SE bit means "Special Equipment" which, as far as I can make out, seems to mean built on spec, with a good set of options that Mazda had parts for that month, instead of built to order with options specified by the purchaser - as most earlier ones seemingly were. Bearing that out, ours left the production line on 15 December 2000 but was first registered in April 2001 - so it presumably sat in a showroom in between.)

I didnt want a 4 wd as I am under the impression they are even juicier !!! Also, having had such painful expensive problems with my Freelander and the 4wd function on that I never want another (ive had seriously bad luck with vehicles this year including the Bongo!!)

On a slightly more positive note, the Bongo has been at Discount Trucks this week to do the cambelt and the waxoiling (all regular things I planned to do) and also he did the coolant thingy job and fitted a coolant alarm on top of that he is rectifying the oil leak that the crook dealer/importer have denied is their responsibility. Anyway, I asked Gerry now he has had a chance to look round it what does he think is there anything else to worry about and he said no. Its also particularly clean with not a trace of ciggy smoke; good clean seats and just some surface dirt on the carpets. Needs some tlc with a nice bath and moisturise though but then hopefully should be on the road by the end of this week!!
